“Dolphins by Design” June 2005 The Indianapolis Zoo and EMMIS Communications
The Indianapolis Zoo and EMMIS Communications are pleased to present “Dolphins by Design,” a public art exhibit that will celebrate the new Dolphin Adventure, opening Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Zoo. The project also celebrates artistic excellence and provides an opportunity to raise funds for the Indianapolis Zoo.
Dolphins by Design showcase regional artists, create partnerships in the community, promote tourism and provide fun for all. A total of 20 five-foot tall dolphin sculptures, cast of a poly resin material, were transformed into works of art by local and regional artists and placed on public display at prominent indoor and outdoor locations throughout Indianapolis.
The adorned Dolphins by Design were premiered at Zoobilation 2005: Taste of Paradise at the Indianapolis Zoo on June 10th. The following week, the dolphins were placed at display locations in and around downtown, where they will remain through Labor Day Weekend. Following the three-month display, the Indianapolis Zoo will auction the best of the dolphins at an upcoming event. Proceeds from the auction will solely benefit the Indianapolis Zoo.
